Rat numbers on the increase

Across the UK, rat sightings have soared during the pandemic, typically, rats avoid humans and make drains and sewers their homes.
However, as a result of shuttered businesses and deserted high streets, rats are out in full force and making restaurants, pubs and empty buildings their new habitat as they look for other sources to satisfy their dietary needs, "It seems their lifestyle patterns are changing. Rats, in particular, are also becoming more visible in areas of population.
With less footfall across cities and towns, there is less associated food waste being left in bins and on the floor. Also, bin areas behind restaurants and pubs are empty and free of food waste making it unavailable for the local rat population.
As a result, rats are also moving further afield to find other food sources. "Rats seem to be moving from town centre's closer to residential areas, where we're still filling our bins with food waste.

Drain style bait station installation in a public area

Sometimes it is necessary to install rodent control measures in areas used by the public.

This particular installation needed to be discreet and safe to the wildlife in the area as well, here is a short video showing the installation. https://youtu.be/ujOQIKwt2JY

Wasps in a school shower block

Here are two videos of before and after wasp nest treatment.

The first nest is in the floor structure of the building, the wasps were entering the nest through a gap in the door frame which has become rotten

The second nest does not need explaining, and yes there was a large number of wasps!

Honey Bee Removal & Relocation

Here is a short video of non destructive honey bee removal & relocation, this is a service we are very proud of as the bees are becoming endangered.

We have safely removed many bee colonies some of those in very difficult places to access, others would have simply destroyed the colonies, we want to keep the bees alive and re-home them.

Covid19 deep disinfect and general pest control update

Its been a while since our last blog for obvious reasons, the UK government decided that pest control was indeed an essential service and all pest control technicians are key workers and very often in a front line role.

There has been quite a lot of press coverage regarding an increase in rodent numbers during the lockdown period, this is true due to our towns becoming empty of people and the lack of food in shop bins and the long period that pest controllers were not allowed to work.

So now that we are back at work we are very busy with rodents, insects and coronavirus deep disinfectant in and around Kings Lynn & West Norfolk.

We have successfully completed 7 Coronavirus deep disinfectant treatments in the last couple of weeks on a variety of premises in the local area.
